What is the USSD service?
USSD stands for 'Unstructured Supplementary Service Data' and is an interactive menu-based service between the customer and the bank. It is a secure & cost effective service available regardless of the end-user mobile phone type. (Only available to Etisalat subscribers)
What are the services available on USSD?
The following services are available on USSD:
- Balance inquiry (account, Murabaha, Investment Deposit, cards)
- Last 5 Transactions
- Transfer within PGCB (own accounts and other PGCB account)
- Bill payments (Etisalat, DU, Salik recharge)
- Salary-in-Advance
- Last salary details
- Card activation
- Change language
- PIN set/reset
How do I register for USSD?
You just need to register for SMS service to avail USSD banking and no separate registration required.
How is USSD different from current Mobile banking?
USSD allows customers to access to bank account from any GSM handset. It is simplest and fastest form of mobile banking.
Do I need to download any application to access USSD?
No, you can access USSD by simply dialing *PGCB # (342) and a secure session will be started offering you various services through an interactive menu.
Can I register for SMS service using USSD?
Yes, you can dial *PGCB # (342) follow the registration steps and register for SMS service. Registration to SMS service can also be done through Internet banking, Mobile banking, ATMs or any of PGCB branches.
How secure is USSD?
USSD is secure and enables a more convenient and speedy way to transact using mobile phone while on the move. - USSD can only be accessed via your registered mobile number in PGCB that is linked to your account - Transaction (utility payment/Fund Transfer) can only conducted after entry of SMSPIN and data is not stored on the handset - If PIN is entered incorrectly 3 times, it would be blocked and you need to call our call center on 04 6092222 to reset your SMS PIN - If the session has been inactive for over 3 minutes, USSD session will expire and user will be logged off automatically
What is SMS PIN?
SMS pin is 4 digit number required to authenticate payments and transfers done through SMS.
How can I get SMS PIN?
"If you don’t have SMSPIN you can set it by
- Sending a SMS in the following format “4 digit pin#pin” to 4222, or
- Using USSD: From main menu select > “Pin Set/reset” > “PIN Set” option, enter the 4 digit PIN and confirm to generate new SMS PIN."
How can I change my existing SMS PIN?
"You can change your SMS PIN through
- Sending a SMS in the following format ‘Old 4 digit pin’#pin#’new 4 digit pin’ to 4222
e.g. if your old PIN is 1234 and new PIN is 3456, send 1234#pin#3456 to 4222
- Using USSD: From main menu select > “Pin Set/reset” > “PIN Change” option, enter old PIN than enter new 4 digit PIN and confirm to generate new SMS PIN."

Will I be able to avail PGCB USSD service if I have du mobile number?
Currently the service is only available for Etisalat subscribers.

No, currently service is only available for accounts holder registered for SMS service.
